Apple expected to announce new iPads
It has been reported that Apple is expected to announce its latest product on 22nd October: a second-generation version of the popular iPad mini. It has also been rumoured that the company could potentially announce the release of the iPad 5.
According to online magazine Current Editorials and reported in the Daily Mail, both products could well be announced on the date in question; the date is almost a year to the day since Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the first-generation iPad mini.
The unveiling date would be likely to mean that the devices could be released in time to cash in on the Christmas market.
Previous reports had indicated that the company would announce the successors to the current range of tablets on 15th October; however, this plan appears to have been changed – if indeed it was ever genuinely in place.
As a general rule, Apple tends to launch products on a Tuesday before making them available for pre-order on the following Friday. The products are then typically put on sale the Friday after that. If this schedule is followed, this would mean that any new devices announced on 22nd October would then go on sale by 1st November.
There have been leaked photos circling the internet for a few weeks, with some showing colourful cases not unlike those of the recently-released iPhone 5c.
During the recent iPhone announcements back in early September, Mr Cook said: “Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software and services that we can’t wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014.”
