Apple to unveil new iPhones on 9 September

Apple has announced that it is holding a product event on 9th September, when it is expected that the new iPhone will be introduced to the world.

Invitations have been sent out to both the press and analysts; however, detailed information on the event has not been released. It is thought that a new iPhone and iPhone Plus will be announced, but there is no indication of the type of upgrades that can be expected.

On other occasions the company has said that the capabilities of Siri will be upgraded for iPads and iPhones. Industry experts believe that the new handsets might feature Force Touch technology, which the company has already included in the Apple Watch. Other speculation includes the addition of animated wallpaper. Changes to the iPad could include a larger version aimed at corporate users, while another suggestion is that the company will introduce a set-top box for use with TVs. Apple has even programmed Siri not to answer questions about the event!

Something that has caught the attention of Apple-watchers is the choice of venue. Apple has opted for the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, which can hold up to 7,000 people. The company usually uses the much smaller Yerba Buena Theatre, which holds just 750 people.

Last year’s event saw Apple launch both the iPhone 6 and the 6 Plus; therefore, there is speculation that this year’s event will see the launch of more than one handset.
