With the 4G network now accessible to thousands of personal and business mobiles, it is almost universal across the UK and has been receiving a considerable amount of attention from users impressed with its high-tech performance.

The plaudits for the new network must go to EE, which pioneered the 4G brand and helped over 500,000 customers to sign up to the network within the first seven months of trading – a number that exceeded the expectations of those in the industry.

EE is not planning to stop there.  The first Shared 4GEE plans are set to be available by the summer, which will enable customers to share their allowance across a range of devices.  Double-speed 4G will also be switched on in the ten largest cities in the UK.

The network is also to be rolled out across some of the UK’s major commuter routes, airports and shopping centres, and in key cities and towns including Aberdeen, Brighton, Cambridge, Northampton, Portsmouth and Swansea.

Many people enjoy 4G due to its home capabilities; however, the increase in business customers shows the positive impact that the network can have in helping to streamline work communications.  IKEA, Renault and Vector Aerospace are just some of the major names now signed up to a 4G business contract.

EE’s 4G network currently covers 74 cities and towns within the UK and is set to hit its target of covering 98% of the country by 2014.  Independent reports from RootMetrics have recently confirmed that EE is the number one company for both mobile internet and overall performance.
