Virgin Mobile customers will all be moved to O2 Mobile this year as part of the Virgin Media O2 merger.

Nearly two years after the two telecoms giants came together, Virgin Media has confirmed that its mobile customers will be contacted next month about migration to O2 Mobile.

All new and existing Virgin Mobile customers will make the move at some point before the end of 2023.

Virgin Mobile and O2 say they will get in touch with customers at least 30 days before the migration, so they know exactly how and when it will happen.

Disruption should be minimised as most customers won’t need to get new sim cards or worry about switching their numbers over.

Both networks have also confirmed that customers won’t see a hike in the cost of their plans either.

There are some notable benefits for Virgin Mobile customers making the move. They will be able to access the O2 Priority service, which has daily offers and early access to tickets and events.

O2 Mobile is also the only provider not to have reintroduced roaming charges in the EU, so customers will be able to use up to 25GB of data abroad without charge.

Their plans regularly include a “perk” too, such as six or twelve-month subscriptions to popular services like Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video.

And because Virgin Mobile has used O2’s network since the merger in May 2021, the service quality shouldn’t be any different.

However, any customers who don’t want to move to O2 Mobile will be able to exit their contracts and switch to a new provider.
